Join us as we learn from Wall Street Journal reporters and Co-Authors Simon Clark and Will Louch of the Key Man: The True Story of How the Global Elite Was Duped by a Capitalist Fairytale. The authors are Wall Street Journal reporters who first broke the news of investors’ concerns about Arif Naqvi’s Dubai-based private equity firm Abraaj and went on to publish a series of hard-hitting stories.

Arif Naqvi was the Key Man to the global elite searching for “impact investments” to make money and do good.  Naqvi convinced business leaders, Western governments, and other investors entrusted with billions of dollars to make profits and end poverty, but who now stands accused of masterminding financial frauds. In 2018, Clark and Louch were contacted by an anonymous whistleblower notifying them that Naqvi had swindled investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars and offered bribes to sustain his billionaire lifestyle. Digging into the claims, Clark and Louch uncovered documents and exposed the Abraaj Group. In April 2019—months after their exposé broke—Naqvi was arrested on charges of fraud and racketeering and faces up to 291 years in jail.
