Large financial institutions provide significant financing to many high-emitting entities, such as fossil fuel companies and steel manufacturers. In order to limit their Scope 3 emissions and reduce their impact on climate change, banks are exploring strategies to mitigate their exposure to “financed emissions” associated with lending and investing activities.
